PMDD isn’t merely getting moody and having cramps just before That Time Of The Month: it’s every symptom of PMS amplified to the point of debilitation. It is mostly identified by crushing depression, intense anxiety, whiplash-inducing mood swings, acute metabolic upset, and more - but it only lasts for about a week before the Main Event. This makes it very hard for some medical professionals to take it seriously, and it also makes it much harder for the gynecologically endowed who suffer from it to re-regulate after that luteal phase.
Interestingly enough, a little mindfulness and a strong comfort object can go a long way to help manage through the symptoms.
